The We Got You campaign is led by an all-star cast of Australia’s biggest sport identities and is a pledge by those athletes to stand in solidarity against racism and be the voice for change.
Standing in the front lines of the initiative are Patrick Dangerfield (AFL), Daly Cherry-Evans (NRL), Lydia Williams (W-League/ Australian National Soccer) and Erin Phillips (WNBA/AFLW).
The aim of the campaign is to bring awareness to the negative impact of the structural racism that exists in sport and the wider community, spark conversation, set the standard of integrity and encourage action to achieve the ultimate goal of a world where no one is singled out because of their colour, origin or ethnicity.
We Got You is a call to arms for other athletes and teammates who have experienced or fallen victim to racial abuse, to connect with the We Got You group, who are committed to serve as their support network, champion their cause and provide immediate and appropriate action and solutions.
“We are stronger as a team so if we can take that same mindset, to come together and apply it across all sports in our country. We can make a positive change and give ourselves a shot at eliminating racism in sport.”
